About Carol

Carol has enjoyed many summers at the family bach, Bonnydoon, for the past 14 years and in 2016 became a permanent resident of Aotea, Great Barrier Island. Taking photos has been a long time interest and since engaging herself in various photographic workshops and hours of studying how to capture better images, Carol has developed a strong passion for her photography, in particular astrophotography.

Carol is actively involved in the community, where her volunteer roles include secretary/treasurer of St John Ambulance area committee and a trustee on the Great Barrier Island Community Health Trust. Fascinated with the designated dark sky sanctuary and the sheer brilliance of the night sky, Carol is often out in the dark enjoying the stillness and serenity of our magical milky way and stars.

Carol captured the essence of our stargazing business so beautifully. Her presence is fun and never intrusive during our tours, which adds to the overall experience.
